Why We Love It: Traditional liquid detergents are made up from at least 50 percent water. Nellie's does not think selling you water and moving water around the planet is a very good idea. The fact is, more cleaning power can be packed into a smaller space using powder. Nellie's Laundry Detergent Powder is a highly concentrated formula (just 1 tbsp per load) that dissolves quickly in cold or hot water and is septic safe. Most importantly, it rinses completely clear, leaving your skin and the environment as spotless as your clothes.

Free from SLS, SLES, gluten, phosphates, chlorine, fragrance, and optical brighteners, Nellie's is safe for the whole family.

In-Store Refill Price: 40¢ per oz.

Add one tablespoon of Nellie's Laundry Detergent Powder for each regular-sized load, either into the detergent dispenser or directly in the drum. Wash according to instructions on garments. Always test on garments that may bleed or fade. May be used in HE and standard washing machines.

Sodium Carbonate, Linear Alcohol Ethoxylate, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Metasilicate.


Refills come in a compostable/recyclable paper bag with paper tape and a paper label. *Please note that this bag is meant solely for transport purposes and is not meant to hold product for an extended period of time.


Refillable glass jar may be recycled with glass recycling. Metal lid should be recycled with aluminum recycling.


Jars in shipped orders come wrapped in 100% recycled newsprint paper made entirely from post-consumer and/or post-industrial content. Paper can be recycled or composted (at home or industrially).

Works great and lasts forever!!

I was nervous to make this switch with a small child and lots of stains. And It worked great!! I have not missed a beat with stains and I filled a huge glass tub and it lasted for months.

Great product

I have been using the powder laundry detergent for the last 1.5 years and I’ll never switch back! I love that this product gets my clothes clean and fresh without crazy harmful chemicals.

This powder detergent gets clothes clean for real- no smelly residue, no itchy sensitive skin issues, no extra liquid or packaging, just effective cleaning power with the bonus of being easy to use and lasting a while. I keep mine in a mason jar that's easy to take to the laundromat, no lugging liquid around. A great swap for the store bought liquids if you're looking to reduce your plastic consumption or just want actually clean clothes!

I've been using this laundry detergent along with the oxy powder since September. I don't really know what the oxy is for, but I figured I'd use some in every load. I am completely satisfied with this product. I was using Seventh Generation and I can't tell any difference at all.

Love this product!

I had already been using a powdered detergent that washed with just a small amount. But it was still packaged and shipped to me in plastic bags. I was so glad to find this product so that I don't have to use anymore plastic! I also love that it has no scent - my laundry just smells clean, no overpowering scent to it. I've found it cleans well, even stained items.
